In our locality, there are many orphan families living in a miserable condition. Their family status and self-respect do not permit them to send their children to orphanage or seek help publicly. Few teenage friends in Calicut City decided to extend a helping hand to these families and for this purpose on 15th August 1983 formed an organisation called "YATHEEM FUND" and introduced a unique system which we think is first of this kind ever introduced. By this system, orphans are taken care of by their mother in their own house. In the beginning the organization started the work by taking care of only 7 families. At present we take care of 500 orphans belonging to 250 families and spending Rs.3.5 Million every year for food, cloths, education, medicine and shelter for these families. There are many orphan families who do not have their own house and stay in rented house in a very bad condition. We have acquired 1.5 acres of land at Arakinar premise to construct house for such families.
