In our locality there are many orphan families living in a pathetic condition.  Their family status, self-respect and modesty do not permit them to send their children to orphanage or seek help publicly.  To help such families few teenage friends in Calicut City decided to form an organisation and on 15th  August 1983 an organisation called "Yatheem Fund"  was formed and registered under the societies registration act as per Reg. No.374/85.

WE HAVE INTRODUCED A UNIQUE SYSTEM WHICH WE THINK IS FIRST OF THIS KIND EVER INTRODUCED. The style of functioning is totally different than any other organisations working in this field.  Our method of functioning is to protect and uplift the orphans and widows in their own house without exposing them to public eye.  Families under our organisation are requested to open a bank account in their own name and we have given a standing instruction to our banker to credit their account every month.  By this method, children do not develop any inferiority complex or carry social stigma and they do not lack any affection because they are taken care of by their own mother in their own house.
 

In the beginning, the organisation started the work by taking care of only 7 families.  At present by the grace of Almighty we take care of 500 orphans belonging to 250 families.  We are spending around IRS 3.5 million every year for these families daily expenses, education, marriage, medical, cloths and house repair.

We give much importance in the field of education.  We provide necessary books, umbrella, uniforms and school fees.  For students studying standard 8th and above, we provide financial help for tuition also.  One of our boys has completed MBA and is working abroad.  Many other children are studying for degree courses.
 

We spend a substantial amount for medical treatment of orphan families.  We take care of many cases which requires continuous treatment and surgery.  Moreover we arrange free medical treatment from other organisations also.
 

Many families are staying in a very miserable situation and their houses are in dilapidated condition and require urgent repair work.  We provide help for such repair work.  There are some houses which do not have water, well or latrine facilities.  We are proud that in many cases we could help to solve such problems.

We spend around IRS 2 Lakhs every year for this purpose.

There are many families who find difficult to arrange their girl's marriage because they do not own a house.  To help such families we have acquired 1.5 acres of land at Calicut to construct house.  We have already constructed 28 houses and plan is under way to construct 20 more houses.  Each house cost around IRS 2.25 lakhs.  For house construction we spend the money exclusively received for the same purpose.

As mentioned before we spend around IRS 3.5 million every year.  As we are dealing with a highly responsible job we should have a steady income without interruptions.  We are trying our level best to have such income.  Our main source of income is from charities, subscriptions and sacrifice animal's skin.

We have a scheme for the people who wish to adopt orphan families.  Some international organisations have recognised our activities and have adopted 

some children.  Some of our children are adopted by "INTERNATIONAL ISLAMIC RELIEF ORGANISATION (JEDDHA) (IIRO).  "ASIAN MUSLIM COMMITTEE (KUWAIT)" has adopted 150 children and "INTERNATIONAL ISLAMIC CHARITABLE ORGANISATION (KUWAIT) (IICO)" has adopted 22 orphans.
